Iren Blanco, Cuba

Architecture
I was born in Havana, 1978 and graduated as Architect from TU-Havana (ISPJAE) in 2001. Between 2002 and 2006, I practiced at the Project Department of the Historian Office of Havana and as independent interior design-architect. Through my work and postgraduate courses I was upgraded as specialist in Rehabilitation of historical buildings and sites. In 2007 I joined the MU master. It allowed me to be trainee at the European Council in Strasbourg, then at the German Cooperation (GIZ) in Ethiopia. Experiences that I approached in my thesis. Besides I worked as freelance Architect at JAG Arquitectos in Spain and FS-Architekten and BeyeScheid, both in Germany. I live in Singapore and still work as freelance.

Andreas Brück, Germany

Geography, Urban Planning and Anthropology
After studies at the University of Bonn, Andreas graduated in 2007 with a thesis on socio-economic changes and settlement development in the Indo-Himalayan Gori-Valley. His interest for architecture, design and the 'urban' as well as the wish to further understand 'development' led him to Mundus Urbano. His master-thesis dealt with urban planning strategies in Valencia, Spain. In 2009 Andreas enrolled in the architecture and design oriented postgraduate master '21st Century Projects' with Carlos Ferrater at the UPC in Barcelona. During his studies, Andreas has worked in architecture offices, GIS technology consultancy and research and development. Today he works as an assistant professor and researcher at TU-Berlin's Institute for Urban and Regional Planning (ISR). He is writing his doctoral thesis on "Impacts of New Digital Technologies on Urban Systems", within the ARUS programme at the University Duisburg-Essen.

Lauren Hammond, South Africa

Tourism Management
Born in 1984, I grew up in Johannesburg South Africa and graduated from Wits University with a BA Honours in Tourism in 2005 and went on to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration at Wits Business School in 2006. I developed a keen interest in mega-events, urban development and tourism during my Honours year when undertaking my research paper entitled "2010: The Johannesburg Experience". I have chosen to continue my studies in urban development with the intention of completing a PhD in due course and will hopefully further a fruitful career in the field of urban development and regeneration.

Sandra Metzner, Venezuela

Architecture
I obtained my degree in Architecture at the Universidad Simón Bolívar in Caracas, Venezuela. During my last years of studies I participated at a student exchange program with the University of Karlsruhe in Germany. During that time I did an internship in PEG MbH, a planning office which is specialized in social and healthcare buildings. After completing my studies, I worked for over one year at the Architecture Office ma+, Franco Micucci y Arquitectos Asociados located in Caracas. I contributed in different architectural projects at several stages during my time there. The experience I gained working in Venezuela influenced my decision to continue my career with the goal of acquiring international knowledge and further skills in urban development. 

Emanuel Trujano, Mexico

International Relations and Political Science
I am Emanuel Trujano, my major is International Relations. I began my professional carreer working for the Central Bank of Mexico, I had the chance to learn a lot about the International Institutions, such as the International Monetary Fund. During ten years, working as manager, I specialized myself in the Pension System, so far I did my Thesis work about an agricultural project financed with pension funds. In 1999 I did my Social Service in the Foreign Relations Secretary of my country where I lent my services to the department for Africa and Middle East. I have also worked as an analyst in international affairs for a Magazine, and have conducted research in the bilateral relations between Mexico and Germany during the XIX century. After this Master, I would like to return to Mexico and work for the Foreign Relations Secretary or present to my Government urban projects to improve the quality of life in urban areas of Mexico.

Coscun Yilmaz, Turkey

Political science
I finished my bachelor in the field of Political Science and Public Administration and I decided to specialize in  city planning. Because of this I applied for the master program since I like to be a part of solution so I want to be a professional in my area.

Jon Rainbow, USA

Environmental Science
Jon is from the United States and holds a degree in Environmental Science from the Evergreen State College, Colorado.

Obed Kawanga, Zambia

Environmental Studies
Obed is from Zambia. He has work experience in the field of environmental health, especially waste water and sanitation, which he acquired with GTZ Ecosan in Lusaka, Zambia, as well as with an NGO in his home town. His work ranged from environmental health education to participatory design of urban sanitary infrastructure.

The Anh Nguyen, Vietnam

Architecture
I finished my architectural course in 2002 at Hanoi Engineering University. After that, I deeply involved in some huge projects in fields of urban planning in Vietnam such as North An Khanh new urban area planning, Cai Gia – Cat Ba villas and hotes area planning. ..  I had a dream to build up “paradises” for Vietnam citizens, especially poor peoples. At the same time, I really want to learn about the current political, social, construction circumstances in the other, both developed and developing countries. They are my reasons to participate the course in Darmstadt TU in 2007. Now I go back Vietnam and work for Coteccons in some projects: Phu My Hung new urban area, Marble Moutain Beach Resort… I am still on a way to build up “paradises” for my country.
