All recipients of the double degree course will have learned and know,
among other topics: • Up-to-date theories and practices of urban and regional planning and management • Methods of participatory urban and neighbourhood analysis • Practices or surveying, research methodology and presentation • Techniques for the formulation, analysis and the ex ante and the ex post evaluation of urban cooperation programs • Conventions of project calculation and finance, typical funding institutions and donor requirements • Principles of housing policies (provision, distribution and finance) • Practices of urban renewal, upgrading and settlement planning • Examples of best practices as reference cases in the urban planning and development field • Land market and regularization • Mediation and conflict management techniques among urban stakeholders • English terminology in urban and housing issues Further competences will vary according to the choice of the second university. |

According to the course selected in the second year each student will
have specialized further in one or several of the above listed topics.
By the combination of taught courses, individual or group work, field
research or internship, and the exchange of experience among the
students themselves, the graduates will have acquired specific
competences including i.e.: • to analyze problems in a complex urban setting from a multicultural and interdisciplinary perspective • to assess the special, social, ecological and economic potentials in a given urban setting • to develop adequate urban development strategies to tackle those problems • to identify suitable administrative and financial settings for implementation of strategies • to communicate findings and ideas understandingly through the appropriate medium • to manage and supervise the implementation of urban development plans and practices • to draw on a wide and rich network of experts and scholars – many of them having met during the master course in the different study locations for future cooperation when needed. The large spectrum of cultural backgrounds and previously held positions among the students will enhance the capacity to work in an interdisciplinary and multicultural context. |

The completion of the MUNDUS URBANO program will open excellent job
opportunities in socially responsible and rewarding fields of activities
such as: • Coordination of urban development schemes and projects in a leasing position • Team leader of a bilateral and international co-operation project • Project conception, acquisition and management within a private, non- governmental or charitable organization • Work independently or for a company as a long term or short term consultant • Occupy a high level function in international organizations, • Teach at a University Masters course world wide |

| procedure | All modules are concluded by an exam. The performance of the student is documented by use of the national grade system. The awarded grades are added up in the Master diploma and weighted according to the associated credit points per module. For translation of the national grades among the different consortium members and countries the ECTS grading scale ‘A’ to ‘E’ is used. The grading of the final master degrees corresponds to the legally approved university regulations of the degree awarding university. |
