Susana Restrepo Rico

Susana studied architecture in her hometown Medellin, Colombia, where the urban situation of the city prompted her interests in urban planning and especially in informal urbanization. She obtained her M.Sc. in Urban Agglomerations at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences and was conferred an Ibero-American Award in housing research by the UAEMex and INFONAVIT in Mexico. After her master studies Susana returned to Colombia to work as an architect and urban planner for new social housing developments in the metropolitan region of Medellin. In the past three years she has been developing her research on urban upgrading and participatory planning at the TU Darmstadt.
