Architect and urban researcher, Grubbauer has been based at TU-Darmstadt since 2009. She holds a degree in architecture from the University of Applied Arts Vienna and a PhD in social and economic sciences with a specialization on urban planning and international urban development from Vienna University of Technology. Her fields of interest include architectural and urban theory, urban political economy and transnational design and planning practices. She is also co-editor and contributing author to the volume Chasing Warsaw. Socio-Material Dynamics of Urban Changes since 1990 (Campus, 2012), which examines processes of urban change in post-socialist Warsaw from an interdisciplinary perspective. In Mundus Urbano, she teaches a writing course focused on urban theory.
