Specialist in urban and regional planning, urban management and capacity development and director of his own consultancy, Davidson was formerly head of urban management at the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies, Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He has worked for extended periods in field implementation often integrated with capacity development, e.g. in Egypt in the Aga Khan award winning Ismailia demonstration projects (upgrading and new development), Indonesia (integrated infrastructure development), India and Kosovo. Interests include integrated approaches, participative strategic planning, capacity development and the development of guidelines. Clients include UN-HABITAT, World Bank, European Commission, GIZ and Nuffic. Geographic experience includes Western, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and a number of African countries including South Africa and Zambia. In Asia he has worked in Indonesia, India and Vietnam.
