Works for the German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) as an international expert on urban development in Eschborn. She advises a variety of urban projects worldwide, including in Chile, Serbia, Montenegro, Ukraine, Syria and Sri Lanka. In Ecuador, she worked in a decentralization program for the GTZ. She studied architecture and urban planning in Hildesheim and finished her doctorate in social sciences and economics at the University of Kassel on sustainable housing and finance programs in developing countries. She spent several years as a research assistant, where she was involved in a research project in Cuba. Daphne Frank has published numerous articles and books on urban and development issues.
