The housing market is relatively tight in Darmstadt due to the high
proportion of students in the city population. Therefore it is advisable
to secure a place to live before the start of the semester – i.e. at the
time when the optional German Language crash course begins in September.
|
There is, however, institutional assistance in finding a place to live, such as: • The International Student Service Office • Housing office of the student union (Zimmervermittlung des Studentenwerks) including their own student flats • Internet based adverts for the flat-sharing (Wohngemeinschaft) market • Student housing offered by independent agencies such as the catholic student community (katholische Hochschulgemeinde), the municipal housing association (Bauverein) and the ‚Ketteler Wohnheim’ |
