The University Pierre-Mendès-France (UPMF) in Grenoble is a well established university in the French university system and enjoys a high reputation for its achievements in social and human sciences. It is well integrated into an international academic network and has the greatest share of international student exchanges among the numerous universities in Grenoble.
The Institut d’Urbanisme de Grenoble (IUG), founded in 1970, is an interdisciplinary research and teaching department of UPMF. Its academic degrees, one of which is the Master "Urbanism, Habitat and International Cooperation" are fully accredited by the Association of European Schools of Planning (AESOP) and its French equivalent, Association de la Promotion de l’Ensignement et de la Recherche en Urbanisme (APERAU). In cooperation with the Grenoble School of Architecture and the Institut de Géographie Alpine of the Université Joseph Fourier, IUG offers a diversified study programme in the field of territorial sciences and local development.
